Founded in 1975 in the wake of Canada’s official ratification of biculturalism, the Association for Canadian and Québec Literatures has, over the course of 45 years, emerged as Canada’s premier association for showcasing bilingual research in Canadian and Québec literatures. This year, ACQL’s annual conference will take place at the Congress of the Humanities and Social Sciences from 29 to 31 May, 2021 (pending final Congress dates). We invite proposals on any aspect of Canadian and Québec literatures, including but not limited to those addressing Congress 2021’s general theme of “Northern Relations.” Congress 2021 is organized in partnership with the University of Alberta, in Edmonton, Alberta. However, because of the ongoing pandemic, the Federation has confirmed that Congress 2021 will be fully online.
Member-Organized Panels (proposals due January 31st, 2021):
- Approaches to Early Career Professionalization: Emerging Scholar Roundtable
- Imagining a Quebec for writers in exile (full)
- Politics and Power in Fiction
- Queer Spatialities in Canada and Québec
- Labor-Based Grading Contracts: Professional Development Workshop
